Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering offers students three degree programs emphasizing electrical, electronic and computer engineering disciplines, ranging from a two-year Diploma to four-year BSc Special Honours. Students can obtain degrees in these areas from SLIIT or our partner universities Sheffield Hallam University (UK), and Curtin University (Australia).

BEng (Hons) Degree in Electronic Engineering

To meet the needs for professionals who can cope with the ever-increasing sophistication in the field of Electronics, the Sri Lanka Institute of Technology (SLIIT) and the Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) in the United Kingdom have come to an agreement for SLIIT to offer the Sheffield Hallam University Degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering at SLIIT.

The first two years of the programme entitle students to obtain a Diploma in Electronic Engineering (SLIIT).  Students completing the Diploma could complete the final year of B.Eng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering of the SHU (subject to validation by SHU) either at SLIIT or at SHU in the UK.

This degree programme offers a series of subjects that will enable graduate electrical engineers to work in many industries and organizations that use modern electronic technology.

Students will learn the scientific principles of electrical and electronic engineering and how to apply them in designing, creating, testing and improving electronic systems and products, to meet market needs.
