Dr. Niranga Amarasingha

Career Summary

Dr. Niranga Amarasingha is specialized in Transportation Engineering, and has had training/experience in Sri Lanka, the U.S.A., the Netherlands, India, and Thailand. She worked few years in the industry, as a civil engineer in the beginning of her career. Once, she was awarded an Asian Development Bank scholarship to pursue two years masters’ degree, and has been an academic since then. She worked for University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka as a lecturer and for Kansas State University, U.S.A. as a post-doctoral associate before joining the SLIIT in 2013. She has worked on several national level projects as a transportation engineer. Currently she teaches transportation engineering modules and her research focuses on traffic engineering and operations; transportation system modeling, planning and simulation; safety and human factors; highway/street design; railroad engineering; and multi-criteria decision making.
