CAREER SUMMARY
Professor Lalith Gamage currently serves as the Vice Chancellor/CEO of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) and the Chairman of Curtin Colombo. A visionary leader in higher education, he played a pivotal role in founding SLIIT. Under his leadership, SLIIT forged a strong partnership with Curtin University, a collaboration that has since grown for over two decades. His tireless efforts and foresight in providing access to world-class education in Sri Lanka have now led to the establishment of Curtin University Colombo, a fully-fledged global campus within Curtin University’s prestigious global network.
Professor Gamage holds a degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research interests are in the areas of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Evolutionary Computing. He has played a key role in advancing Sri Lanka's IT industry through leadership positions at the ICTA, the Lanka Software Foundation, the ICT Cluster, and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute. Internationally, he extends his expertise as an Affiliate Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
