CAREER SUMMARY
Dr. Niranga Amarasingha specializes in Transportation Engineering, boasting over 20 years of training and experience across Sri Lanka, the U.S.A., the Netherlands, India, and Thailand. Beginning her professional journey as a civil engineer in the industry, she later transitioned into academia. A recipient of an Asian Development Bank scholarship, she pursued a master's degree spanning two years, subsequently embarking on her academic career. Holding roles as a lecturer at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a post-doctoral associate at Kansas State University, U.S.A., she joined SLIIT in 2013.
At present, she teaches transportation engineering modules, with her research centering on a range of areas including traffic engineering and operations, transportation system modeling, planning and simulation, safety and human factors, highway/street design, railroad engineering, and multi-criteria decision making.
Throughout her tenure, she has made significant contributions to various national-level transportation projects. Currently, she serves transportation sector as the president of the Sri Lanka Society of Transport and Logistics.
