I am pleased to send this congratulatory message to the Graduating Batch of the July 2021 who will be conferred degrees at the very first virtual convocation hosted by SLIIT.

In an era in which the COVID-19 pandemic has compelled the global academic community to explore new avenues in teaching and learning, SLIIT has been in the forefront, creating a milestone in the history of higher education of Sri Lanka, transforming itself to a virtual campus.

Irrespective of many issues brought about by the pandemic, we pride ourselves in the fact that SLIIT has ensured that your academic activities were never disrupted by any means, allowing you to graduate in a timely manner as we value years of hard work and commitment you have put in to become what you are today.

This year, SLIIT launched its own international campus in Colombo which is a significant step towards further achieving the Institute’s vision to expand high quality higher education opportunities in Sri Lanka. We will also see the development of our fully fledged campus, which is being set up in Kandy, providing education opportunities for students from the far corners of the Country.

As you stand at the threshold of the next chapter of your life, let me remind you that the world you are going to be exposed to is no longer the same. The post pandemic will present you with new challenges that demand your critical thinking and innovation. It is my belief that SLIIT has nurtured you throughout your academic journey while inculcating essential skills that you may require to weather such challenges successfully. I urge you to make every challenge an opportunity.
