
SLIIT, has yet again achieved a milestone and cemented its status as the leader in the education sector. For the first time in Sri Lanka, a UGC approved IT degree is being accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a professional body in the UK for the Engineering and Technological community. This world renowned accreditation qualifies students to obtain the Chartered Engineers status.
Students who follow the four year, special honours IT degree programme conducted by SLIIT and specialize in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Systems and Networking, or Information Systems can now qualify for the Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) status.

The accreditation committee from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) have visited SLIIT twice prior to awarding the accreditation. The IET panel commended and awarded the accreditation to SLIIT due to the well-recognized IT programme, the resources and facilities, quality assurance, moderation of exams and stringent admission requirements.
With this accreditation SLIIT IT degree holders will be both professionally and academically qualified.
