On Nov 20th 2017, the William Angliss Institute Sri Lanka hosted a culinary competition in collaboration with the Italian Embassy to mark the Italian Food week. An inter-hotel schools competition, the event saw our own students from the Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management at SLIIT bring home 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up and the title winner.
Steven Bradie a Miles, CEO of the Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management, stated a?A content of this nature is a great exposure for all students, and it gives them hands on practical experience through being part of a competition. It also gives them the opportunity to be introduced to ingredients that they would not get exposed to at home. The lead up and practice helps them dabble with food and learn through trial and error. Students in Sri Lanka are extremely creative and their practical skills are high, they just need to be guided.
