
The Faculty of Engineering at SLIIT, one of the country’s premier engineering faculties, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Swisstek Aluminium Sri Lanka. This collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of aluminum profiles through research and rigorous testing conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering at SLIIT.
The MOU signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. Rahula Attalage, Pro-Vice Chancellor-Academic at SLIIT, and Dr. Tharindu Attapattu, CEO of Swisstek Aluminium. Key figures from both institutions also participated, such as Prof. Ayantha Gomes, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Janaka Perera, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Gobithas Tharmarajah, Project Coordinator, Mr. Gihan De Silva, Manager of Marketing, and Eng. Yohan Sandeepa, Product Development Engineer.
In addition to the research and development of aluminum profiles, the MOU outlines a broader scope of cooperation. Both SLIIT and Swisstek Aluminium have committed to fostering a robust partnership focused on building knowledge capacity, developing human capital, and providing training and laboratory opportunities for their members. This strategic alliance is set to drive innovation and excellence in the field of engineering, benefiting both institutions and the wider industry.
