
SLIIT proudly announce that six of its academics have been named among the World’s Top 2% Researchers in the 2024 Stanford-Elsevier Ranking, based on their research publications in 2023 and career publication records. Dr. Bhagya Nathali Silva (Faculty of Computing), Prof. Dush Jayakody (Faculty of Engineering), and Prof. Dhanushka Udayanga (Faculty of Humanities and Sciences) are included on the 2023 single-year list of the Top 2% Researchers. In addition, Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, has maintained his presence on the list since its inception. On the prestigious Top 2% of Researchers based on the career publication record, we are proud to announce the inclusion of Prof. Priyan Dias (Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Saman Halgamuge, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Global Engagement, alongside Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, who is also ranked amongst the world’s top 100,000 researchers.
The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings, now in its sixth iteration, list the world’s leading researchers, representing around 2 percent of all scientists worldwide. It recognizes top scientists for both their recent-year publications and career-long contributions. The Elsevier database was meticulously analyzed by Stanford University researchers, adhering to the rigorous Science-Metrix classification standards.
Overall, SLIIT has four researchers on the 2023 single-year list and three on the prestigious career list, a remarkable achievement that not only celebrates the individual accomplishments of our academics but also emphasizes SLIIT’s continued impact on the global stage as we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of SLIIT.
