It is with great pleasure we announce that SLIIT Faculty of Computing research project, which was supervised by Dr. Janaka Wijekoon | Co-Supervisor: Ms. Dilani Lunugalage | Ext Supervisor: Dr. Nayani Aratchige from Coconut Research Institute Sri Lanka | Students: Samitha Vidhanaarachchi, Gnanod Chathuramadu Akalanka, Tinali Gunasekara, and Divyani Rajapaksha has won the WORLD CHAMPION of the 2021 Young Innovators of World Summit Awards.
CocoRemedy is the first mobile and web-based application that provide surveillance and identification of coconut diseases and pest infestations for the people of Sri Lanka. Through cutting-edge technologies such as deep learning, image processing, crowdsourcing, CocoRemedy provides the solution for this prevailing problem. The research was conducted with the collaboration of the Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka (CRISL).
