The annual robotic competition organized by Faculty of Engineering, SLIIT was held on 1stA�and 2ndA�of September 2016 for the seventh consecutive year. Overwhelming enthusiasm among the school students and university students was outstanding this year as the seventh run of the annual encounter recorded 73 school teams representing all nine provinces of the country and 54 teams from island wide tertiary educational institutes including leading state and private sector universities and other higher educational institutes.
Team a�?EZIOa�� of prestigious University of Moratuwa emerged victorious in the university category completing the challenge with a clear margin to the runners up team, a�?Trojan15a�� from Ceylon German Technical Training Institute. After a nail biting final round team a�?Dark knighta�� of University of Moratuwa emerged second runners up.
The audience witnessed hundreds of young school students occupying the arena showcasing their talents in electronics and mechanics, nourishing the robotic culture of the country. Accounting for their fair share in robotics young school girls also took part in the competition. Team ULTRON from Central College, Kuliyapitiya clinched the title this year leaving Team Zenith from Royal College, Colombo and team DEV LFR 003 of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala in the second and third places.
The event kicked off on Thursday 1stA�of September 2016 with the participation of Professor Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor/CEO of SLIIT and distinguished academic and industrial professionals. The awards ceremony on 2ndA�September 2016 of this magnificent event was honoured by the presence of the chief guest, Professor Rohan Munasinghe, Head-Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering of University of Moratuwa.
