Prof. Ruwan Jayathilaka

Career Summary

Ruwan Jayathilaka is a Professor at SLIIT Business School, SLIIT. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Information Management at SLIIT Business School and is the coordinator for the SLIIT MBA program. Before joining SLIIT, he worked with numerous international and national institutions, including UNICEF, the Institute of Policy Studies, the World Economic Forum, the International Organization for Migration, the South Asia Centre for Policy Studies, and the International Development Research Centre. He also collaborated with various policy stakeholder ministries and private sector institutions in Sri Lanka.

He is the author of several peer-reviewed articles published in numerous leading international journals, including Applied Economics, Tourism Analysis, Tourism Review, PLoS ONE, BMC Public Health, Quality & Quantity, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Disability and Society, South Asia Economic Journal, Journal of the Knowledge Economy and the Journal of the Korean Economy, among others. Additionally, he has presented over 15 papers at conferences held in countries such as South Korea, Bangladesh, Nepal, Senegal, and Australia.

Professor Jayathilaka has extensive lecturing experience in Applied Econometrics, Business Economics, Business Statistics, Business Research Practice, and Data Analysis at various state and private universities in Sri Lanka and Australia. He has also served as a research supervisor for postgraduate and undergraduate students in several national and private universities in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he has been a resource person for numerous workshops related to Research Methods and Advanced Data Analysis organized by several state universities and ministries in Sri Lanka.

He currently holds the position of Academic Editor for "PLoS ONE" from 2022 to the present and serves as the Editor of the "Sri Lanka Economic Journal" and "SLIIT Business Review". Previously, he held the role of Editor for the "Sri Lanka Journal of Population Studies" and the "International Journal of Management and Entrepreneurship".
