Career Summary

Jayaruk is a graduate of University of Colombo. He pursued his PhD in Chemistry from The University of Alabama, USA. He has specialized in Materials, Analytical and Physical Chemistry. Currently he is working as a senior lecturer at School of Natural Sciences, SLIIT. He also lectures in the Materials Engineering program, SLIIT . He is a visiting lecturer at Institute of Chemistry. He is researching in Nanotechnology, Catalysis, Graphitization, Environmental chemistry etc. collaborating with University of Colombo and Institute of Chemistry. He supervises postgraduate and undergraduate research projects.

He has specialized in many instruments like Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS), Gas chromatograph-Mass spectrometer (GC-MS), Raman Spectrometer, FT-IR spectrometer, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analyzer etc.

  • Study on catalytic graphitization of amorphous monolithic carbon by metal nanoparticles
  • Waste water purification by using different porous materials
  • Synthesis of transition metal doped ilmenite, Rutile, and zircon and their applications
