CAREER SUMMARY
Eng. Sarath Wickramasuriya obtained his first degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983. After serving for several years as an Instructor at the university, he joined Sri Lanka Telecom in 1985 as an Engineer.
During his distinguished 34-year career in the telecommunications industry, he held numerous senior positions ranging from Engineer to C-level management before retiring in 2020. His extensive professional experience covers operations, maintenance, project management, network planning, and information security.
He represented Sri Lanka Telecom at the SEA-ME-WE 3 Consortium and SEA-ME-WE 4 Consortium submarine cable committee meetings held in various countries. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous international training programmes and conferences related to telecommunications and information technology.
As Deputy Chief Officer (Network Planning and Projects), he played a pioneering role in introducing Next Generation Networks (NGN) to Sri Lanka Telecom. At the time of his retirement, he held the position of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), where he led the SLT team in obtaining ISO 9001:2015 certification.
He is a visiting lecturer for engineering degree progam offered by University of Moratuwa and University of Ruhuna
