Shehani Wijayawardena began her professional career as a Technical Business Analyst, gaining experience in requirements elicitation, process modelling, functional documentation, and system validation for enterprise applications.
She later moved to Australia to pursue postgraduate studies in Business Analytics while gaining professional experience as a Data Analyst. Her work involved data analysis, analytical modelling, data validation and the development of Business Intelligence dashboards to support data driven decision making. During this period, she also gained experience in tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Alongside her industry experience, she has been actively involved in academic research in areas including Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Business Intelligence and Decision Support Systems. Following the completion of her Master of Business Analytics with Distinction, she transitioned into academia as a Lecturer, bringing together her experience in technical business analysis, data analytics, teaching and research.
