The SLIIT Institutional Research Board (IRB) plays a vital role in overseeing and guiding research activities across all faculties and schools. It ensures that all research projects comply with SLIIT’s Strategic Plan, uphold international research standards, promote ethical research practices, and contribute towards strengthening SLIIT’s global research profile.
The IRB is Co-chaired by the Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor and provost and Pro ViceChancellor (Research & International) and includes senior academics representing all faculties, key research divisions, and industry collaborators.
Governance Body for Research
The IRB is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring all research-related initiatives at SLIIT. It ensures these initiatives are strategically aligned with the university’s long-term vision, mission, and Strategic Plan while fostering innovation and institutional growth through coordinated governance and support.

Co-chaired by the Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor - Global Engagement & Research, and Pro Vice-Chancellor (R&I), the IRB includes representatives from all faculties, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Director – Research Enterprise & International Relations, Director – SLIIT Innovate, and industry professionals.
