This programme provides a strong foundation in business and AI, emphasizing critical thinking, evaluation, and hands-on experience. Students will:
- Master the Business Core – Management, economics, accounting & finance, marketing, operations, organisational behaviour, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
- Build Technical Foundations – AI-assisted programming, business statistics, data management & SQL, software engineering, and cloud, APIs & data engineering.
- Explore AI & Machine Learning – Applied machine learning, deep learning & unstructured data, generative AI, agentic AI, and intelligent automation.
- Apply AI in Business – AI product management, business transformation, AI governance, risk & cybersecurity, enterprise AI & MLOps, technology entrepreneurship, and AI solutioning.
This programme develops both business and technical expertise, preparing graduates for leadership at the intersection of business and AI.
Upon successful completion of the programme at SLIIT, graduates will,
- Integrate Business, Data & AI Knowledge – Integrate business, data, computing and AI knowledge to address organisational challenges.
- Identify AI Opportunities – Identify business problems and opportunities where AI can create measurable value.

Minimum of 3 ‘’S” passes in Commerce stream AND a “S” pass in O/L English OR A/L General English.
OR
Minimum of 3 “S” passes in any stream with “Economics” as a main subject AND “S” passes for O/L Mathematics and English (“S” pass for A/L General English is accepted in place of O/L English)
OR
Minimum of 3 “S” passes in any stream AND “S” passes for O/L Mathematics and English (“S” pass for A/L General English is accepted in place of O/L English) AND completing the Business Bridging Programme conducted by SLIIT.
Cambridge/Edexcel A/Ls:
Minimum of 3 ‘’D” passes for subjects equivalent to the Commerce stream of Local A/Ls AND a “D” pass in O/L English.
OR
Minimum of 3 “D” passes in any stream with “Economics” as a main subject AND “D” passes for O/L Mathematics and English.
OR
Minimum of 3 “D” passes in any stream AND “D” passes for O/L Mathematics and English AND completing the Business Bridging Programme conducted by SLIIT.
Applicants should also pass the Aptitude Test conducted by SLIIT.

The fee for this degree is LKR 375,000 per semester. Fees for each semester must be paid before commencement of the semester.

Students develop strong business knowledge together with the AI, data and technology literacy needed to lead AI-enabled change, connect business problems with technological possibilities and move AI from experimentation to real business impact.

No. This is a BBA (Hons) specialisation. Students learn AI and technology in enough depth to understand, evaluate and apply AI in organisations, but it is not intended to train deep technical AI engineers.
No prior programming experience is expected. Programming and data skills are developed progressively within the degree.
Business Analytics primarily focuses on using data to generate insights and improve decisions. Business and AI extends further into AI-enabled products, intelligent automation, Generative AI, implementation and organisational transformation.
A Computing AI degree primarily prepares students to develop AI technology. This specialisation prepares students to identify where AI creates business value and lead its application within organisations.
Potential industries include banking, finance, retail, telecommunications, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, consulting, technology and other sectors adopting AI.
