The full fee of this course is LKR 900,000. An application processing fee of LKR 2,000 will be charged at registration. The course fee is all-inclusive, covering lectures, tutorials, examinations, and access to library and computer laboratory facilities. The full fee needs to be paid before the course commences.

We offer a wide selection of PhD courses under Computing and Engineering fields. These programmes involve an applicant being assigned to a supervisor for guidance in conducting the research. The applicant and supervisor/s work together to achieve the objectives of the research programme. If the applicant has no previous experience in conducting research, SLIIT will guide them through the proceedings with the existing panel of resource personnel. SLIIT will provide a foreign supervisor from its Honorary Professors Network to nurture and sustain internationally acclaimed research at SLIIT.

The shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by SLIIT. At the interview, the overall suitability of the applicant to follow PhD programme is assessed.
Applicants seeking admission to the Degree programme under I.III, shall be admitted to the degree program on the approval of the Senate based on the recommendation of the Faculty.
The process include:

An applicant under I.I and I.II, granted admission to the PhD program shall register as a PhD Research Student (PRS) within a period of three months from the date stipulated by SLIIT.

A Student, upon passing a qualifying examination after one year from the date of registration as a PRS, may be allowed to register as a Candidate of the PhD programme and to proceed with the programme.

A Student admitted under I.I, I.II, I.III and fails to satisfy requirements to proceed with PhD program at the qualifying exam but found to be suitable to proceed with MPhil programme; he/she may register as an MPhil candidate and continue studied for an MPhil degree.

The studentship of a PhD Research Student failing the qualifying examination twice will automatically be terminated.
The program can typically be completed in 3–5 years (full-time or part-time), depending on the pace of research and the project requirements.
