Advancing Global Research Through AI and International Collaboration
A groundbreaking study published in Scientific Reports highlights how Explainable AI can be used to better understand the persistent challenges of homicide and suicide mortality across the Americas.
The research was conducted through a Sri Lankan–Japanese collaboration involving Ms. Sherin Kularathne and Dr. Namal Rathnayake Alumnus of SLIIT, Prof. Ruwan Jayathilaka of the SLIIT Business School, Prof. Iori Nakaoka of the Faculty of Data Science, Shimonoseki City University, Japan; and Prof. Yukinobu Hoshino of the School of Data and Innovation, Kochi University of Technology, Japan.
By combining artificial intelligence, public health research, and socioeconomic analysis, the study provides valuable insights to support evidence-based policymaking and strengthen public health surveillance.
This achievement reinforces SLIIT’s commitment to impactful research, global collaboration, and the use of innovative technologies to address real-world challenges.
