We are excited to share the success of Tripartite Engagement at SLIIT, held in collaboration with the Schools, The University of Queensland – International (UQ) and SLIIT! The event brought together top schools from across Sri Lanka to engage in forward-thinking discussions on the leadership in education, future of education and technology.
We were honored to welcome Prof. Deborah Terry AC, Vice Chancellor of UQ, a highly experienced leader in the Australian university sector and an internationally recognized scholar in psychology. Since August 2020, Prof. Terry has served as Vice-Chancellor and President of UQ. Prior to this, she was Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University in Western Australia. Her extensive leadership includes serving as Chair of the Board of Universities Australia and as a Fellow and past President of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. Notably, Prof. Terry was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in January 2024 for her eminent service to tertiary education and the community.
Her inspiring speech on ‘UQ & Leadership in Education’ set the tone for the day, followed by a lively Q&A session led by Mr. Brett Lovegrove, Pro Vice Chancellor (Global Partnerships), UQ, strengthening the bonds between our institutions.
Dr. Malitha Wijesundara, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Sciences at SLIIT, also delivered an engaging presentation on Technology in Education, exploring how it can transform learning and teaching environments through innovation.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks from Asangi Jayasinghe, Director of Research Enterprise & International Relations at SLIIT, who recognized the contributions of all our distinguished guests, including Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nimal Rajapaksa, Provost/Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellors , Senior Academics of SLIIT and School Principals/Vice Principals/Sectional Heads who actively participated.
We are eager to see the opportunities this tripartite partnership will bring as we continue to collaborate and shape the future of education in Sri Lanka!
