The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) presents ROBOFEST, the annual robotic competition geared to expose the robotic design talents of students all around the country.
The inaugural ROBOFEST was held in 2010. It was initially opened for the undergraduates of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. In 2011 the competition was made open to school students, undergraduates of universities island wide as well as industrial personnel. Since then, ROBOFEST has been conducted annually in three categories: school category, undergraduate category, and open category.
Due to the pandemic situation, ROBOFEST 2020 had to be cancelled. However, despite the prevailing situation continuing on to 2021, we were determined to adapt to the new normal and to continue this tradition. ROBOFEST 2021 was hosted as a hybrid event with minimal in-person contact. Making it in line with adapting to the new normal, we were able to introduce participants into a new realm of virtual robotic simulation while maintaining the spirit of ROBOFEST.
After the triumphant return to the physical format in 2022, ROBOFEST2023 aims to follow in its predecessor's footsteps and reach an even bigger audience of robotics enthusiasts.
