The USAID Workshop on ‘Plastic Innovation for a Greener Tomorrow,’ hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Information, Electronics & Transmission (CIET) headed by Prof. Dush Jayakody at SLIIT, brought together 65 participants, including industry experts and students from both SLIIT and other universities, to explore innovations in sustainable plastic technology and discuss actionable solutions for reducing plastic waste. The workshop featured talks by Prof. Benedic Basnayaka, Prof. Meththika Vithanage, Prof. Ayantha Gomes, and USAID experts Mr. Ayal Piyathilaka and Mr. Roshan Narasinghe, Deputy Chief of Party, USAID Ocean Plastics Reduction Activity, RTI International. The event was inaugurated with opening remarks from Prof. Nimal Rajapaksha, DVC & Provost of SLIIT.
