The University of Queensland

The University of Queensland (UQ) had the privilege of hosting a distinguished delegation from SLIIT. The visit was led by Professor Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor of SLIIT, accompanied by senior leaders of SLIIT.
The two-day program was designed to foster deeper collaboration between the institutions, with a focus on academic exchange, research partnerships, and student mobility. The delegation engaged in a series of strategic meetings with UQ’s Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, where they explored opportunities in areas such as power and energy systems, human-centered computing, and geotechnical engineering.
They also met with representatives from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law to discuss potential pathways for business education and joint initiatives. A highlight of the visit was the meeting with UQ’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Terry AC, and the Global Partnerships team, where discussions centered on long-term institutional collaboration.
The delegation enjoyed a networking lunch with faculty leaders and participated in sessions with UQ’s Employability team, the Student Union, and Sri Lankan students currently studying at UQ, including those on SLIIT pathway programs. These interactions provided valuable insights into student experiences and alumni engagement.
This visit marks a significant milestone in the relationship between SLIIT and UQ, paving the way for future academic innovation and global impact.
