
The SLIIT School of Law officially launched its Moot Court, a platform dedicated to providing students with hands-on experience in legal advocacy through simulated courtroom proceedings. The event was graced by His Lordship Justice Sobhitha Rajakaruna (Judge of the Court of Appeal) as the Chief Guest, alongside other notable legal professionals and academics like Justice Nimal Samarakoon (Retired Judge of the Court of Appeal), Mr. G. G. Arulpragasam (Senior Attorney-at-Law) and Prof. Naazima Kamardeen (Professor, University of Colombo). SLIIT dignitaries such as Prof. Nimal Rajapakse (Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost of SLIIT), Prof. Rahula Attalage (Pro-Vice Chancellor – Academic of SLIIT), Prof. Colin Peiris (Dean – Academic Development & Quality Assurance), Dr. Malitha Wijesundara (Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences) also graced the event with other academic & non-academic staff and students at SLIIT. At the event a group of SLIIT law students showcased their skills by presenting a mock moot, demonstrating their enthusiasm in mastering advocacy in a courtroom. The event that took place at the Moot Court in SLIIT Malabe Campus on the 2nd of October 2024, ended on a successful note.
