SLIIT, with the aim of boosting learning ability and making a?learning and studyaAan overall exciting experience, have conducted over 25 workshops for Advance Level StudentsAIsland wide. The school workshop series is a comprehensive yet a?fun filleda event which has beenAheld over the past 03 years. Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha, Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya,AMatara, Dharmaraja College, Kandy, Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda are some of the schools whichASLIIT has worked with in the recent past.
Explaining the rationale of the workshop,ADr. Theekshana Suraweera, founder of theAa?Edutainment Unlimiteda school workshop series noted, a?With a rise in academic pressure and anAincrease in competition for university admissions, our secondary school students, especiallyAchildren in the GCE (Advanced Level) classes are under severe stress and anxiety. This could beAattributed to poor study skills, lack of knowledge on stress management and an unclear view onAcareer path ways. Therefore, as a part of our corporate social responsibility initiative, we designedAa workshop to address factors such as learning and study skills, confidence building, stress reliefAand relaxation exercise and study/career options after A/Levelsa?.
Mind mapping, time management, forgetting curve and a range of fulfilled activities toAenhance team work and creativity are some of the items presented in the workshops. This full dayAbilingual workshop which accommodates around 250 children is conducted free of charge as aACSR project ofASLIITAto secondary school students.
a?The feedback we have received from principals, teachers and the student who participatedAhave been very positive. We hope to organize more workshops which will not only help studentsAexcel within the classroom but also help them succeed in their place of work,a? noted ProfessorALalith Gamage, President/CEO, SLIIT.
