Diploma in Heritage and Cultural Tourism

Sri Lanka, a land of profound natural beauty and layered cultural legacy, offers a strong
potential for heritage and cultural tourism. From UNESCO-listed ancient cities and sacred
temples to vibrant traditions in art, music, and festival, the island presents a living tapestry of
human history and diversity along with its ecological richness spread across a myriad
ecosystem.

This course equips students with a critical understanding of how heritage and culture shape
tourism practices, highlighting their role in sustainable development, identity preservation, and
economic vitality. Students will gain practical skills in heritage interpretation, tour planning,
and ethical tourism management, preparing them to engage with one of the most dynamic
sectors in Sri Lanka’s future.

Pass the General Certificate of Education (GCE O/L) + Obtained Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) Level 2 or, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 equivalent qualification.

Pass the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) examination in any stream.

பாடநெறி கட்டணம்

The fee is presently Rs 250,000 for any subsequent semester and should be paid prior to the commencement of each semester. This all inclusive fee is charged to cover lectures, tutorials and examinations and access to computer laboratory facilities and library.

The fees should be credited to, Account No 1630552 of the Bank of Ceylon in favour of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, at the Bank of Ceylon Kollupitiya Branch located at the first floor of the BoC Merchant Tower Building or at any branch of the Bank of Ceylon; or to Account No 00 399 0000033 of the Sampath Bank at any branch of Sampath Bank. Normally, fees paid will not be refunded. However, requests for refund of fees may be considered if made before expiry of one week from the date of commencement of lectures for each semester. The date of commencement of lectures for the new applicants will be the date of commencement of lectures of the Orientation Programme. The refund, if made will be subject to a deduction of ten percent of the fee paid
