Architecture

This is a fulltime two-year Master’s degree in Architecture offered by the Liverpool John Moores University in UK at SLIIT School of Architecture in Sri Lanka. The students will directly register with both SLIIT and LJMU for both the years of study since the entire degree programme is offered by LJMU.

Students having a LJMU BSc (Hons) Architecture degree or any other bachelor’s level degree (minimum 3 year) in Architecture are eligible to apply for this MSc Architecture postgraduate degree at SLIIT.

What can you do after MSc:

This programme groom students become skilled professionals in the current global trend in the field
of architectural practice and in academia.

After completing the Master’s degree students will be able to start work as Junior Architects in
Architectural firms under Chartered Architects or join government institutes or authorities. With the postgraduate degree, the students can pursue research to continue education up
to PhD levels.

With Part 1, 2 professional qualification from SLIA, students will be eligible to sit for Chartered
Examinations (part-3) conducted by Sri Lanka Institute of Architects following a required, monitored
training period.

What will you Learn OR better ‘gain’:

  • Ability to generate complex design proposals, understanding of current architectural issues,
    originality in the application of subject knowledge.
  • Exposure to comprehensive range of visual, graphical, oral, and written media, analyze, critically appraise and explain design proposals with the use of latest modern technology.
  • Ability to evaluate materials, processes and techniques that apply to complex architectural designs and building construction, and to integrate these into practicable design proposals.
  • Advanced knowledge through research to produce clear, logically argued, and original written work relating to architectural history, theory, culture, environment, design, and technology.
  • Understanding of the context of the architect and the construction industry, including the architect’s role in the processes of procurement, and building production, in the setting of legislation and financial feasibility.

  • Minimum 6 months work experience under a Chartered architect or an architecture firm. The candidates fulfilling the entry requirements for the programme will be selected through and interview process conducted by the SLIIT School of Architecture.

Per semester: Rs. 390,000/-
The royalty Fee of £ 550 to be paid to LJMU at the beginning of Each Year in the form of a Bank Draft.

Application processing fees Rs. 1000/= has to be paid in the beginning of the registrations for Master of Science Degrees at SLIIT. Fees can be paid to the bank accounts of SLIIT at any branch.

All inclusive fee to cover lectures, tutorials, examinations, access to computer laboratory facilities and the library and is payable prior to the commencement of the programme.

The fee should be credited to Account No 1630552 of the Bank of Ceylon in favor of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, at the bank of Ceylon Colpetty branch located at first floor of BOC Merchant Tower building or at any branch of BOC. Or Sampath bank account number 003990000033 of the Sampath bank at any branch of Sampath bank. Course fees are subjected to change.

Refund Policy

Full course fees paid will not be refunded. However, request for refund of fees may be considered if made before expire of one week from the date of commencement of lectures. From the date of commencement of lectures 90% of the paid amount will be refunded. If a request for a refund is received after one week but before the end of the month, 50% of the paid amount will be refunded. Thereafter, there will be no refunds of fees.
