This research group aims at filling the knowledge gaps in the field of financial accounting, cost accounting, management accounting, and accounting education.
How economic theories are applied in the real world situation is observed and studied in this discipline. The aim of this area is to assist economic policy makers to evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies using a quantitative framework. The use of economics and econometrics models forms the core of the research methodology and the character of the research is both theoretical and empirical. This research group conducts research in the following areas.
Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) Research Group is focusing the development of technologies, systems, practices, and applications to analyze critical business data so as to gain new insights about business and markets. The new insights can be used for improving products and services, achieving better operational efficiency, and fostering customer relationships.
Computational linguistics involves looking at the ways that a machine would treat natural language, or in other words, dealing with or constructing models for language that can allow for goals such as accurate machine translation of language, or the simulation of artificial intelligence.
Generally, computational linguistics involves looking at the nature of a language, its morphology, syntax, and dynamic use, and drawing any possible useful models from this observation in order to help machines to handle language.
The objective of the ‘Financial Markets’ research group is to bring together research initiatives spanning the sub-disciplines of Corporate Finance, Investment Finance, Real Estate Finance and Personal Finance within the umbrella of the broader discipline of Financial Markets. Investigations will focus on the Sri Lankan situation in the context of its competitive placing within the South Asian region. Proposed projects deal with market efficiency, market performance, real estate and financial market development and financial planning for retirement.
The Human Capital Management research group is a platform for publication cooperation and for developing and strengthening networks across different levels of organizations and the HR professional community. With the diverse research backgrounds the members contribute their expertise knowledge mainly in Human Capital Management, Organizational Behavior and Policy Studies. We conduct research focused on fairness for employees and as well as determine the perspectives of management. As such, we give opinion to a range of stakeholders in the employment relationship through our research. We aim to support members to produce publishable outputs that inform our teaching and which engage our external partners.

These main topics touching the trendy and upcoming research aspects in the marketing field. These new insights can be used to improve the efficient use of new digital platforms for brand development and enhance the service quality leading to customer satisfaction.
Numerical Methods for Analytics (NMA) Research Group is focusing on the development and testing of methodologies, techniques, and applications to analyze data (business/financial/scientific). The objectives would be to generate research topics for publication involving promising students and interested academic staff.

SME’s and Microfinance Research group is focusing on Economic Development through the entrepreneurial success of micro-entrepreneurs especially women, Economic Development through the empowerment of women -Impact of SMEs on the economic and social development of the country, Poverty alleviation through entrepreneurial development. The Research Group is now studying the impact of COVID19 on the microfinance sector and will be extended to SMEs of the country in the next few weeks.
Strategy & International Business (SIB) Research Group is focusing on the strategic alliances, business in emerging economies, international strategy, management of Multinational Enterprises and Corporate Social Responsibility. The Research in strategy looks at how firms position themselves in industries and compete against rivals, and how firms make their most important internal decisions.
